Dick Ellis

DIRECTOR

An "all rounder" with over forty five years experience as a Valuer and Auctioneer, he now concentrates his interests on English Furniture and Silver, Books and Antique Maps

He is an experienced and accomplished auctioneer and regularly takes the rostrum, skilfully combining a spirit of theatre and fun – ensuring that the process of selling is as entertaining as it is commercially effective

Jacqui Arbery

DIRECTOR

Jacqui’s background in finance, computers and administration ensured she has been well equipped to take on the task of managing the Company’s development over the last 30 years

She has been largely responsible for the sustained growth and diversification of the business and continues to drive the Company forward in a never ending quest for further improvement and efficiency

Jacqui also brings her considerable experience and rare sense of humour to the rostrum, as an active participant in the auction process

Simon Knowles

DIRECTOR

Simon graduated in Fine Art & Valuation more than 20 years ago

He has a wide general knowledge of Antiques and Works of Art and specialist ability in the specific fields of Jewellery & Watches, Arts & Crafts and Art Nouveau wares; together with a keen interest in British, European and Oriental ceramics and glass

He was largely responsible for initiating the Company’s use of the internet, long before many competitors and continues to spearhead the every increasing use of on-line facilities and in particular, the provision of live bidding for absentee buyers

His spirited personality is reflected in his popularity on the rostrum

Barrie Twyman

DIRECTOR

Enthused from an early age by his Grandfather's passion and knowledge of Art Pottery, Barrie became ever more interested in the wider aspects of collecting; and as a General Practitioner, now advises on an eclectic range of chattels, from antique and decorative furniture, to ceramics and collectables

In addition, empathy with his peer group has brought us a new dimension to our understanding of the tastes and requirements of an emerging young generation of householders and collectors - an essential ingredient in the valuation of many items being consigned for sale by auction these days

Barrie also heads-up the Company’s House Clearance Division which handles an almost unending variety of items from valuable antiques to routine domestic furnishing and effects; and his efficiency and attention to detail often brings order to difficult situations which can arise when the contents of an entire house have to be identified, valued and removed

As part of the auctioneering team, Barrie brings quick wit and a mischievous sense of humour to his appearances on the rostrum’

HAYDN PALMER

VALUER & AUCTIONEER

Haydn is our newest recruit. In his previous ‘life’ he was involved in business and accounting

He has therefore been a late starter in the world of antiques and auctions but he has more than made up for this with a growing, impressive general knowledge, a keen eye and ability to assimilate and process information which is the very basis of being an able valuer

Haydn is mature beyond his years which sits well with clients and we look forward to his continuing development as a part of the Amersham Auction Rooms team

Haydn also works alongside Tom in the general day to day running of the Auction Rooms and the two together are building a great team for the future!
