Barrie Twyman
DIRECTOR

Enthused from an early age by his Grandfather's passion and knowledge of Art Pottery, Barrie became ever more interested in the wider aspects of collecting; and as a General Practitioner, now advises on an eclectic range of chattels, from antique and decorative furniture, to ceramics and collectables

In addition, empathy with his peer group has brought us a new dimension to our understanding of the tastes and requirements of an emerging young generation of householders and collectors - an essential ingredient in the valuation of many items being consigned for sale by auction these days

Barrie also heads-up the Company’s House Clearance Division which handles an almost unending variety of items from valuable antiques to routine domestic furnishing and effects; and his efficiency and attention to detail often brings order to difficult situations which can arise when the contents of an entire house have to be identified, valued and removed

As part of the auctioneering team, Barrie brings quick wit and a mischievous sense of humour to his appearances on the rostrum’

Tom Baxter
HEAD PORTER

Tom recalls from a very young age being dragged around auction rooms and fairs by his father, a dealer, but this turned out to be valuable early learning; because his role as Head Porter, handling the busyness, of the Auction rooms’ floor, on a day to day basis means he can ably and knowledgably assist both buyers and sellers

He particularly takes an interest in mid 20thC furniture, a category in which buyers are showing increasing interest and therefore, little passes under his nose without him wanting to gather more and more knowledge!

Tom is also one of our fully trained saleroom.com online auction operators and also looks after telephone and commission bids on sale days, for those who cannot attend.

As part of a wider role, he also oversees removal company deliveries, store management and international courier collections; and his degree in photography is a huge asset to all of us when producing weekly auction catalogues

Haydn Palmer
ASSISTANT CATALOGUER

Haydn is our newest recruit. In his previous ‘life’ he was involved in business and accounting

He has therefore been a late starter in the world of antiques and auctions but he has more than made up for this with a growing, impressive general knowledge, a keen eye and ability to assimilate and process information which is the very basis of being an able valuer

Haydn is mature beyond his years which sits well with clients and we look forward to his continuing development as a part of the Amersham Auction Rooms team

Haydn also works alongside Tom in the general day to day running of the Auction Rooms and the two together are building a great team for the future!
