For those who cannot attend an Auction, absentee bids may be made via the Catalogue.
If, for any reason, a potential Buyer is unable to attend an auction, a 'free' Absentee Bidding facility may be used.
The system is always operated fairly and without bias, but it must be stressed that the Directors and staff of Amersham Auction Rooms cannot accept responsibility for any consequences of a missed or failed bid.
The prospective Absentee Bidder should :-
- Select the appropriate current catalogue.
- Select by Lot Number the item required
- Press ‘Click to Bid’ on the right-hand side of the lot description
- Click ‘OK’ on the pop-up box
- Enter the maximum amount to be bid and press 'Bid'. The maximum bid made will be indicated in 'red'
- Bids made in error may be removed immediately, by pressing 'Remove'
- The Bidding Slip may be viewed at any time by selecting 'View Auto Bid Form' [Top of Catalogue]
- If the Bidder has not pre-registered, he/she will be asked to complete all personal details for subsequent auto-entry
- To complete the Absentee Bidding process, scroll to the end of the Bidding Slip
- Enter the Bidder's name, the date and press 'Submit Your Absentee Bid'
- If the Bidder has already pre-registered, his/her full details will have been entered automatically and the Bidding Slip e-mailed
- The Bidder will also be asked questions about e-mailed Newsletters and e-mailed notification of new catalogues
Additional information, together with estimated prices, will be available to bidders from knowledgeable and helpful Auction Room staff in person, by telephone, e-mail or fax, prior to placing a bid. If requested by Absentee Bidders, the Auctioneers will provide a Condition Report on specific items. Whilst every effort will be made to be as accurate as possible, all Condition Reports are provided without responsibility. If a potential bidder is in any doubt whatsoever about an item’s condition, a physical inspection is advised.

- This facility is only available where the estimated Auction price is expected to exceed £100.
- The prospective Buyer has confirmed a willingness to make known their opening bid. This information may be requested when telephone lines are limited, in relation to the number of people requesting their use on a particular lot.
